A New Approach to Human Performance

High Performance Balance started in 2024 through a collaboration between Carlos Del Rio and the Twice As Fit team (Alex and Sean Courtney).


At the time, we were working together on a separate health and wellness project focused on helping individuals improve their physical and mental wellbeing.


During that work, a recurring theme kept emerging in conversations with professionals, leaders, and teams:


People were exhausted.

Burnout, compassion fatigue, and chronic stress were becoming increasingly common across workplaces.

As we began exploring the problem more deeply, we noticed something important.


Most workplace wellness solutions were fragmented. Some focused only on mental health. Others focused only on physical health. Very few addressed the whole human system that drives sustainable performance.


So we started experimenting with a different approach.

By combining movement science, behavioral science, and mental health principles, we began developing workshops and strategies designed to support the full spectrum of human performance.


The results were powerful.


But what truly solidified the mission behind HPB happened next.

HPB was created to help bridge that gap.

A Pattern We Noticed Around The World

We noticed the growing disconnect between what people needed and what organizations were offering.

As we dove deeper into the data and began speaking with experts from around the globe across fields such as healthcare, psychology, leadership, performance science, and organizational development, a clear pattern emerged.


They were seeing the same thing.


Across industries and across countries, professionals were experiencing increasing levels of burnout, disengagement, and overwhelm.


And many experts pointed to a major accelerating factor:

The rapid rise of artificial intelligence, digital technology, and the constantly evolving demands of the modern workplace.


Technology is transforming the way humans work faster than most organizations are prepared to adapt.


But while technology continues to evolve, the human side of performance has been largely neglected.
